Alex holds a Business degree majoring in HR from the Queensland University of Technology and is a specialist legal recruiter with over 15 years experience in the legal industry gained with major national and premier law firms as well as with boutique legal recruitment agencies. Alex has extensive experience in senior appointments across legal, human resources, finance, business development and marketing.
Commencing her professional career in 1994 with Freehills, Alex spent almost seven years working in finance, HR and ultimately specializing in Learning and Development with an emphasis on graduate recruitment and training programs for senior lawyers.
In 2001 Alex joined the legal team of one of Queensland’s leading recruitment firms. Focusing mainly in the private practice market Alex also worked extensively for government departments as well as major corporations in helping them source lawyers at all levels. Alex credits this experience with shaping her strong sense of investing in relationships and in people, many of which remain part of her extensive network today.
In 2004 Alex joined award-winning firm Hopgood Ganim as Manager of HR where she helped the firm create a formalised HR function. Alex also played a key role in establishing numerous employee focused programs and initiatives, which have gone on to provide the foundation for the firms numerous Employer of Choice awards. Two years on, Alex returned to her true passion of people development and career planning as a Senior Consultant with a boutique recruitment consultancy.
With the ever increasing demand by law firms for talent and born from a desire to provide her clients with effective and timely recruitment solutions, in early 2010 Alex established Alex Correa Executive a boutique legal executive search firm.
The past 15 years has provided Alex with an invaluable insight into law firms and the challenges faced by lawyers in every day legal practice. It is this experience, which has given Alex’s clients the confidence to refer to her not only for their recruitment needs but also as an industry adviser in matters relating to people management, salary benchmarking, practice management and legal marketing. Alex also holds Certified Professional membership (CAHRI) with the Australian Human Resources Institute.
